BBB – Bread & Butter Berlin 20.-22. January 2010 (pt. 1)

LUUK is finally back after a long break! And here we go directly (drum roll) with a report of the first day of Bread & Butter Berlin.

BBB is an international tradeshow for selected brands, labels and designers, taking part at the historic Berlin Tempelhof Airport. The exhibition hall is subdivided in several areas: Sports&Street, Street Fashion, Fashion Now!, Style Society, Denim Base, Urban Superior and L.O.C.K. (Labels of Common Kin).

First, it is quite difficult to get in: you have to be either press or buyer to get access. Moreover the Airport is huge – that’s why I needed this first day just to check out the location. There is loads of information regarding F/W 2010-2011, meaning loads of stuff to carry, as you can see on the pic below.

Before leaving you after this exhausting day, some special features have to be cited. (1) A Mag room, with the latest issues of around four dozen of fashion magazines for free, (2) the “brand bible” every visitor is provided with, and (3) a flea market, where fashion books, specialized magazines, shoes, nail polish,… can be purchased, even with a very low budget!

In conclusion, I have to say: I’m amazed! Getting back tomorrow with brand-new details on various topics.

LACE YOUR FACE!

In the past seasons fine lace has been incorporated in many designs and could therefore be seen on numerous catwalks. For instance, Prada F/W 08-09 or Valentino F/W 09-10 (see post “VALENTINO F/W 09-10 haute couture”), just to quote some.
Now today, I just saw the new lace-inspired M.A.C. Limited Edition termed “Love Lace”.

I couldn’t help but wonder, was all that new? I thought to remember, that a few years ago, eyebrow decorations made from lace could be purchased. Even my online research today couldn’t help me reveal this question.

Anyways, I just love the “love lace” design (pic below) suggested on maccosmetics.com

I think that this trend is going to be THE EYECATCHER for extraordinary events, like New Year’s Eve, for example…wear it, if you dare it ;)

P.S.: Please comment if you remember those lace eyebrows, too! Thanx in advance!

Coup de Coeur…

… The MICHALSKY Puffy Sleeve Blouse. This amazing piece of art has recently attracted my attention, and, I’m amazed. It’s define, retro, shiny, feminine and reserved – even draconic – at the same time.

A combination with the below shown Four-Way Stretch High-Waist Side Zipper Pant of American Apparel gives it a more urban and prêt-à-porter touch.

Still amazed and hoping that my Xmas money will be sufficient to get this blouse…

VALENTINO F/W 09-10 haute couture

Snowflakes are finding their way to the ground in the wonderful city of Berlin, while I’m reviewing Valentino’s F/W 09-10 haute couture collection. Why starting with Valentino? Well, he is one of the greatest artists of our times. His eternally light and simply delightful view of beauty has inspired and fulfilled countless fashion lovers and creatives.

The collection is clearly dominated by black, with some silver and rosé. Valentino is playing with black lace, which itself is gently enveloping the models’ bodies.

Bows and wavy cloth are caressing legs and ankles when utilized with shoes. Ruchings and feathers as well as fabrics imitating feathers are employed in fantastic interpay. Masks of lace are hiding faces.

A woman wearing any of theses pieces will look sexy, but more in a mysterious way – serious and reserved, but in a tempting, interesting way.

This collection is perfectly fitting into Valentino’s work – it’s a success of the utmost beauty and perfection.

Snowflakes are still falling down in front of my window, and I’m still stunned and amazed by Valentino’s F/W 09-10 haute couture collection.

Now what do you think? (Check out the collection at http://www.valentino.it/home2.html)
